I help people who suffer from chronic illness gain control of their health by balancing their mind, body and environment so that they can have the energy, confidence and clarity to live their life to its fullest potential.
I'm a board certified physician, certified by the Institute for Functional Medicine, combining conventional medicine with evidence-based integrative medicine to create personalized, holistic treatment plans.
Functional Medicine is systems medicine. We look at the different body systems that comprise the whole person to determine which systems are not working properly and use targeted therapy to correct them.
We try to prevent disease, not just treat it once it has developed.
Precision Medicine
We use an array of advanced testing to get to the root cause of your symptoms.
This may involve blood work panels, as well as advanced biomarker testing including food sensitivity, microbiome analysis, hormone and neurotransmitter testing and more to investigate the root cause of your symptoms.
Regular Appointments
We know healing best occurs when you know what to expect and have regular appointments with accountability.
That's why our unique membership program supports you in every way so you can focus on yourself!
Private Community
Healing can't occur in a vaccuum. That's why we have a qualified health coach integrated within the program to support you holistically with whatever may come up.
We don't stop there. We've created a community network as well so you know where to go for high quality food, clean hygiene products as well as body support.

Discovery Call
A phone call with Dr. Petrik is ideal if you want to understand how your specific case would be approached or if you have general questions about the practice and how it may differ from your past healthcare experiences.
This step is optional, and no direct medical advice is provided during this appointment.
Foundational Assessment
This one‑time assessment provides an in‑depth consultation designed to uncover the unique imbalances contributing to your symptoms.
Blood work is collected at Clinical Pathology Laboratories, a diagnostic lab widely used throughout Texas, prior to the appointment. Your results are then reviewed and interpreted so you leave with a personalized lifestyle and supplement plan.
The assessment includes two appointments: a 90‑minute visit with Dr. Petrik and a follow‑up one-hour session with our health coach. This evaluation is required to establish care at Arkum Medical Associates.

Ongoing Membership
This is where the deeper work takes place. With our 12‑month membership, you receive five one‑hour appointments with Dr. Petrik. Throughout this process, you are supported as we uncover the underlying drivers of your symptoms or disease using a combination of advanced testing and a balanced approach to mind, body, and spirit.
Specialty labs may be recommended as part of this evaluation. These tests incur an additional cost, but for members they are provided at wholesale pricing and are never marked up by the practice.

Functional medicine focuses on identifying and addressing the root causes of illness rather than simply treating symptoms. It uses an individualized, science-based approach that examines each patient’s environmental, biochemical, and lifestyle factors to create personalized treatment plans.
By targeting underlying drivers, practitioners often find that a single condition may have many different causes and that one root cause can lead to many different conditions. This approach allows treatment to be tailored to the specific ways disease shows up in each individual.
Health exists on a spectrum, and you do not need a formal diagnosis to benefit from working with a physician. Many people assume they are healthy simply because they have not been labeled with a disease, but this is an outdated way of thinking. Ideally, patients seek care because they want to feel better, function at a higher level, and live their best life. People are often surprised to discover how much better they can feel once underlying issues are addressed.

Hippocrates famously said that “all disease begins in the gut,” and modern research continues to show how true this is. Many foundational systems depend on a healthy gastrointestinal tract to function well. For example, roughly 80 percent of the immune system resides in the gut, and up to 90 percent of serotonin is produced there. When gut health is compromised, it can worsen or complicate other conditions, including mental health disorders, immune dysregulation, and hormonal imbalances. Because nutrient absorption also occurs in the gut, inflammation or dysfunction can prevent key vitamins and minerals from being properly absorbed and used, which affects essential biochemical processes throughout the body.
For this reason, nearly all Arkum Medical patients receive a thorough gastrointestinal evaluation. Common assessments may include stool analysis, breath testing, and organic acid profiling. Since the gut interacts with multiple other systems, most functional evaluations and treatment plans are anchored in restoring gut health. When the gut is not functioning well, it becomes much harder to achieve wellness in other areas of the body.

Your skin is your body’s largest organ, and it often provides important clues about internal health. Because of this connection, treating skin concerns frequently involves uncovering and addressing underlying inflammation, imbalances, and nutrient deficiencies.
Effective treatment begins with evaluating hydration, gut health, hormone balance, nutrition, stress levels, and sleep habits, since each of these plays a foundational role in skin function and overall wellness.
Eczema
Psoriasis

Allergies
Autoimmune diseases now affect roughly 1 in 12 people in the United States, making them one of the fastest‑growing groups of chronic conditions. The immune system is deeply interconnected with mental health, hormone balance, cardiovascular function, and the body’s ability to grow and repair. In autoimmune illness, the immune system mistakenly attacks the body’s own tissues because it can no longer distinguish self from non‑self. Factors that may increase susceptibility include dysbiosis, heavy metals, chronic infections, environmental toxins, nutrient deficiencies, and endocrine‑disrupting chemicals.
Because immune dysregulation can arise from many different sources, treatment must be individualized. The goal is to identify and remove the triggers that are overstimulating the immune system. In many cases, multiple factors are involved, which is why a systems‑biology approach is essential for effective care.

Cardiovascular risk reduction focuses on lowering inflammation and improving metabolic health, using key biomarkers such as insulin, hs‑CRP, HbA1c, homocysteine, and uric acid to assess cardivascular status and arterial wall inflammation. These markers help stratify risk and guide a more precise understanding of what is driving cardiovascular strain.
Treatment centers on lifestyle strategies that reduce inflammation, including nutrition plans, stress management, and identifying and resolving underlying contributors. This may involve evaluating gut health, toxin exposure, and hormone balance to address the root causes that elevate cardiovascular risk.
Hypertension
Hyperlipidemia
Sleep Apnea
Metabolic Syndrome

Hormone‑producing organs such as the pancreas, thyroid, ovaries, testes, and adrenals release hormones that regulate essential functions including metabolism and reproduction. The central nervous system, through the hypothalamus and pituitary, signals these organs when to secrete hormones, creating a chain of communication that begins in the brain and ends at the target cell where the hormone acts. Imbalances in hormone production, transport, sensitivity, or detoxification can all lead to symptoms of hormone dysregulation. Each step in this chain is evaluated for gaps or disruptions, and treatment focuses on restoring balance throughout the system. This requires a systematic approach rather than immediately turning to hormone therapy. Hormone therapy may be used when appropriate, but it is considered only after foundational issues have been addressed.

Almost everyone we see reports some degree of difficulty sleeping, anxiety, or depression, which aligns with national data showing that about one in five adults experiences at least one of these conditions. These issues reflect disruptions in brain health, so the evaluation begins with factors that influence brain function, including nutrition, physical activity, environmental toxins, spiritual well‑being, genetic predispositions, vitamin and mineral status, gut health, and interpersonal relationships.
Because so many factors can contribute to mental health symptoms, it is common for people to be offered medication to address the immediate concern, and many individuals benefit greatly from these treatments, especially those with severe depression. However, not everyone responds to antidepressants, and decisions about starting or tapering medication should always be made with a healthcare provider.
A functional approach includes assessing gut health, adrenal function, thyroid disorders, and nutrient deficiencies, along with a detailed review of lifestyle and dietary patterns to reduce inflammation and stabilize mood and blood sugar. A comprehensive, multi‑layered strategy is essential for supporting long‑term brain health.
